Carer Rights Day

Thursday 26 November is Carers Rights Day. This day is dedicated to ensuring new and existing Carers are aware of their rights, know what help and support is available and raises awareness of the needs of Carers.

We will be unable to hold a face to face event but will be marking the occasion with lots of online activity instead. Check out Birmingham Carers Hub’s Facebook page from Saturday 21 November until Friday 27 November where we will be sharing information with you throughout this period.

On Thursday 26 November, Midland Mencap will be posting information on their Facebook page for parent carers and Birmingham Carers Hub will be hosting online Carers Rights Day events. Here is the timetable of the Carer information sessions so that you don’t miss out.

Benefits & Advice at 10.30 – 11.30, click here to book your free place.
Mark from Birmingham Carers Hub will tell you about what financial support is available for Carers and how to access support. Please note due to time restrictions, Mark may not be able to answer questions relating to personal information, however he will be able to offer generic advice.

Wills & Lasting Power of Attorney at 13.00 – 14.00, click here to book your free place.
For many Carers conversations around wills and deciding to put lasting power of attorney in place can be confusing and overwhelming. Come along and hear what support is available from Birmingham Carers Hub Dementia services and the Alzheimer’s Society. You will be introduced to what different levels of support is available such as, how to access a Carer’s Assessment, what information and advice is available for those caring for someone with Dementia who also has a learning disability, and find out about available support groups and training opportunities.

The day will draw to a close at 7.00pm with the Carer Friendly Business Awards Award Ceremony. If you would like to be the first to know who the winners are, follow Forward Carers Facebook page throughout the evening.
