A Decade of Supporting Carers – Now It’s Time to Celebrate Their Voices
As we celebrate 10 years of Forward Carers, we are excited to invite unpaid Carers across Birmingham to be part of a special exhibition at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery’s Industrial Gallery this August.
We are looking for Carers who want to share their experiences through art or creative writing. Whether you are a painter, poet, photographer, or storyteller, this is your opportunity to have your work considered for display in a month-long exhibition, raising awareness of the incredible role Carers play in our communities.
How to Submit Your Artwork for Consideration
🔹 Step 1: Create Your Artwork
Your piece should reflect your experience as a Carer—whether it’s a painting, drawing, photography, poetry, or creative writing. Think about how caring has shaped your life, the support that has helped you, and what the future should look like for Carers.
🔹 Step 2: Submit a Photograph of Your Work
All submissions will be reviewed before selection. Please send us a clear photograph of your completed artwork along with a short description of its meaning. Only selected pieces will be chosen for display.
🔹 Step 3: If Chosen, Provide the Original Artwork
If your submission is successful, we will contact you to arrange delivery of the original piece for the exhibition.

If you would like to take part but need hands-on support or access to art materials, we are hosting a series of free creative workshops led by experienced facilitators. These sessions are designed to help you develop your ideas, learn new artistic techniques, and bring your vision to life.
