Oscar Birmingham‘s specialist Carers service is for unpaid and parent carers, who look after someone diagnosed with lifelong Sickle Cell Anaemia and Thalassaemia (SCaT) blood disorder, including comorbidity.
Project activities include support sessions, wellbeing days, coffee and chat, days out for Carers/families, specialist advice, information and Carer’s Assessment.
This is a city-wide service as part of Birmingham Carers Hub Partnership Delivery to support Carers from African, Caribbean and South Asian communities living with SCaT, so they have better access to services, ensure they have a voice and are heard.
This service will also help Carers to:
- Reduce feelings of loneliness
- Increase social participation
- Increase confidence in your role as a Carer
- Create a support network
